Tattoos & piercings

I don't know how interesting this is to anyone exept myself, but most people that know me also know that if there's one thing I love spending my money on, it's tattoos and piercings. Therefore, I thought I'd make a page about the bodymod I've had done and what I'm planning to get.

I won't pretend to be an expert or anything, I'm pretty much self educated on all of this, but if you have any questions about any of this, drop a comment below and I'll try to answer as best as I can!

TATTOOS

At this point I have 6 tattoos. I love them all and I think they're beautifully done. I'm very careful that what I have tattooed is something that means a great deal to me and (hopefully) always will.

The first tattoo I got was a present from my mum for my 18th birthday. It took 1,5 hours to complete and cost about £250. It's the music of my nan's favourite Norwegian christmas carol. She used to live in our basement and we were very close. She died 10 years ago last summer, so I got this tattoo in her memory.

My second tattoo was one that nearly everyone said (either with words or stares) that I would regret in a fairly short time. The tattoo is on my left wrist and it's a Harry Potter tattoo. It says "mudblood" and I have the deathly hallows sign and the glasses and scar beneath Mudblood. I know that most people think that I got it because I'm a crazy, obsessive Harry Potter fan, but that's only partially true. I mean, I definitely am a crazy, obsessive Harry Potter fan, bot the meaning behind the tattoo is a bit deaper than that.

I was in primary school when I discovered Harry Potter. I think I was about 8 years old. In many ways, Harry Potter changed my life. I won't go into detail about all the stuff that was going on, but being able to disappear to Hogwarts for 2-3 hours when the normal world became too much to handle, probably saved my life.

The third tattoo is, to me, very special. There's probably someone who has a quote similar to mine, but I haven't found anyone that has exactly the same, so I like to think that I came up with it all by my self. The tattoo is in honor of my brother and says "Ingen kjærlighet er så stor som kjærligheten for en lillebror." Directly translated to English, it means "There's no greater love than the love for a younger brother." And there isn't. Not for me. Not yet, anyway.

The fourth and fifth tattoos, I got on the same day. They were a 19th birthday present from myself to myself and I'm so in love with them, it's not even funny! They are tributes to my mum and dad.

On the right foot, I got a bicycle and the Norwegian word for mum, Mamma. The reason is that my mum turned her life around a few years ago and started working out. The past three-four years she's been doing a lot of bicycling and she has the same one tattooed on her shoulder as I do on my foot and I thought it would be a nice representation of her.

On the left foot, I got a steering wheel like that of an old ship (rudder?) and the Norwegian word for dad, Pappa. The reason is that my dad works at sea and has done for as long as I can remember with the brief exeption of a few years when I was about 11-12 years old. He loves the sea and I think even when he retires, he's going to buy a boat and keep going. It's his thing.

My sixth tattoo and my last one so far is just a couple of weeks old. It's my first ever coloured tattoo and I think it turned out really good. It's on the rib cage on the right side and it hurt like a lot of words that I probably shouldn't put in writing. However, it was well worth it and I love it already. It's a constant reminder that what other people think about your looks doesn't matter, as long as you're confident, you're beautiful. Initially, I thought that I probably shouldn't get it because it's a standard teenage thing to do that you're likely to regret when you grow up a bit more, but then I realised that with the body image pressure that we have today, I don't think it'll ever be okay to have a few extra pounds, and since I love chocolate like other people love their dogs, I don't exactly think I'll ever be a Victoria's secret model. But I can have the confidence to look good, and that's all that matters! Confidence is beauty.

PIERCINGS

At this point, I have 20 piercings. However, that number is likely to get higher in time, so stay tuned (can't believe I just used that phrase)!

In my right ear I have 9 piercings. I also have one microdermal on the right side of my neck.

(Excuse the lighting in my room, I know it's horrible!)

The piercings that I have are
  • 1 lobe, stretched to 4G (5mm) (not in the picture)
  • 3 Lobes
  • 3 Helixes
  • Rook
  • Tragus
  • Microdermal
  • Cavum conch (not in the picture)

The microdermal is a bit hard to see in this picture, but it's right below the ear.

I'm done with this ear!

In my left ear I have 5 piercings.

The piercings that I have are quite common ones, but they are
  • 5 Lobes
  • Industrial/Scaffold
The ones I have left to do are
  • Cavum conch
  • Cymba conch
  • Helix
Facial piercings: 4 at the moment.

The piercings that I have are
  • right nostril
  • right bottom lip
  • tongue
  • smiley
A lot of people have reacted to my smiley piercing, which is understandable, I know they're not that common, but I love it a lot! I think it's really cute :)

I don't have any more facial piercings planned at the moment, but I have been toying with the thought of getting my bottom lip double pierced on the right side or to get another one on the left side so that they make snake bites. I think that they'd be too close to each other to do snakebites, though, so I might leave it as is. I have also been thinking about getting my tongue web done, but I'm not quite sure at the moment. Also, I've always thought that eyebrow piercings are quite cute, but I think they're sort of a 14 year old rebel kind of thing, so I doubt I'll be getting one.

I also have my belly button pierced, but I don't have a picture at the moment.

I've been thinking about getting a reverse bellybutton piercing, but since the regular one I already have gets caught in my clothes and stuff, I'm scared it'd take a long time to heal if I got the reverse done as well.

As I already said, if there's anything you want to know about the piercings I have or want to get or about cleaning, what kind of jewelry to get and stuff like that, just drop a comment below and I'll try to answer :)
