All about me

My name is Hanne Grethe, but since Englishmen are having some real issues pronouncing that, I've gotten used to being called Hannah. I'm 19 years old and I moved to England in September 2013 to study BA Criminology at Uni of Winchester and so far I love it!

Hi! This is me :)

I was born way back in 1994 in a beautiful town called Aalesund on the Norwegian west coast. I was born with a heart disease and started showing symptoms when I hit puberty at around 11-12 years old. You can read about the illness in the page named "Stress triggered arythmia". I'm the oldest of two children and my brother was born in 1998. He's smart, handsome and sometimes he's even funny! A lot of people say that we look a lot alike, but I'm not sure if I agree. I'll put in a picture of him, and you can decide for yourself!

He is the president of out county's sober society for young adults and even though sobriety isn't the choice I've made, I'm very proud of him! He works hard to share information and provide support for other youths that want to make the same choice and I think that is very admirable!

My brother, ladies!

My parents are the two people in the world that I look up to the most. They have always supported me and even though I think they were a bit skeptical when I announced that I wanted to do my university degree in another country, they never said that I couldn't and, clearly, it went very well, I haven't had any major issues.

My dad works at sea as an engineer on board a long liner. He's worked at sea for as long as I can remember, with the exception of a few years when I was about 11-12 years old. My dad can fix anything, which is a good thing, because I don't take particularly good care of my stuff. Last year I hit a deer with my (mums) car and when I told him he just laughed and said that as long as I was okay, he could always fix the car. My (mums) car is a dark green 1997 Vauxhall Astra, by the way, and it's the ugliest, most perfect little piece of crap in the world! Unfortunately, due to the heart disease I talked about earlier, the cardiologists have decided that I'm an unfit driver until I can get the episodes of fainting under control. But I swear, when I prove to them that I can go 1 whole year without fainting, I'm going to buy plain tickets back home just to drive for a weekend and I can't wait.

I love this thing to bits and I can't wait to prove the
doctor's wrong and get my drivers license back!

My mum works for a company that makes, and sells, boat engines and spare engine parts. She's the one I always call if something goes wrong, like when I went back to England after christmas and lost my boarding card at Gardermoen, the airport in Oslo. She's always there to help with what ever it might be and it feels very reassuring knowing that if I'm suddenly broke or if I get sick or injured, I can call my mum and she'll always find a way to sort things out. After all, even though I am supposed to be growing up now that I've moved out, it's still a big scary world and calling mum for advice and help never hurts.

Dad, me, mum and my brother!
